TRAINING DONE RIGHT

Motocross Training

Our Instructor
With over 35 years of motocross racing and training under his belt, Tim Shea began giving back to the sport in 2006 when he started an amateur motocross race team. Then in 2007 he began a professional Supercross Team consisting of up and coming privateers. The team earned several top 10 main event finishes in the 250 class of the Monster Energy Supercross Championship. Owning and managing a Supercross Team had many responsibilities including focusing on bike set up, rider’s training/practice, riders’ mental strength, rider safety, track walk, learning fast lines, adjusting quickly to adversity. Throughout Tim’s career he constantly worked with top motocross instructors and trainers including Tony D,, Gary Bailey and other top professional motocross racers. With his background and experience you will be taught the proper techniques and fundamentals making you a more controlled and safer rider. Where you take it from there is up to you, there are no limits, only the ones placed on yourself. Once you learn the proper techniques you can practice them over and over until they become natural. Practicing these techniques will make you excel in your riding and racing.

Private vs Group Lessons
Two types of lessons are available to suit all rider's needs. Riders can choose to participate in 1 hour private lessons or 1 hour group lessons. Groups are arranged by age and level of student. Our group class size can be up to 20 students. Group classes are an excellent way for students to meet other riders and learn from each other. We offer the following Private Lessons for any age:
  • Private one (1) hour lesson on Saturday for Beginner Riders from 10am to 11am for $50.00.
  • Private one (1) hour lesson on Saturday for Advanced Beginner Riders from 1pm to 2pm for $70.00.
Additional private classes will be announced at a later date. Information on Group Lessons can be found below.

Available Group Classes
LEVEL I - Beginner Rider (Ages 3-12) - Saturday's 11:00am to 12:00pm - $195 per student - per month
In this class, we will start with the basics; you will learn and master the correct positions off and on the bike. We will review body position, head position, arm position, wrist position, foot position, weighting pegs and mastering controls. These positions must be taught and learned prior to riding the motorcycle. You will master flat corners and turns before attempting ruts or berms in Level II. Body positioning going into corners, during the turn, then exiting the turn will be taught. We will teach outside elbow up, square shoulders, outside knee pressed against tank, weight outside foot peg and inside leg up. When to stand and when to sit will be covered as well. We will practice with cones using ovals. Once these fundamentals are mastered you can request an assessment to graduate and move up to Level II. This class is only for small bikes, NO BIG BIKES are allowed in this class.

LEVEL II - Beginner Rider (Ages 3-12) - Saturday's 12:00pm to 1:00pm  - $215 per student - per month

You must pass an assessment offered in Level I to join this class. In Level II, we will teach braking into turns and how to immediately begin rolling on the throttle smoothly. We will focus on increasing corner speed and momentum. By doing this we will significantly reduce your lap times on the track. If you save just ½ second in the corner, you can multiply that by the number of turns on a racetrack. This is a significant way to immediately make you a faster racer. We will practice on rutted corners. They are more difficult to master but with proper technique and body positioning you will become better and faster through rutted turns. We will practice berms; The most fun of all motocross turns! You will learn to brake later and accelerate smoother exiting the berm. You can gain corner speed with the proper berm techniques. We will practice jumps. Everyone loves jumping, you will learn proper body positioning and throttle control. Learning proper jumping will make you a safer rider. Most importantly, we will practice proper braking. Many faster riders gain positions during a race by out-braking their competitors. We will teach the techniques to brake as late as possible entering the turns. This class is only for small bikes, NO BIG BIKES are allowed in this class. Once these fundamentals are mastered you can request an assessment to graduate, if 13 and older you can move up to Level I Advanced Rider.
